Next Gen back linking
In today’s World of Webmastercraft everyone is trying to create backlinks for their websites. This can be done using the white hat- or black hat methods. Black hat techniques are all about spamming other websites which are relevant or not to their own website they are trying to rank for. If you spam enough websites, chances are that you will rank higher in the search engine’s because of your presence on the web. If your website shows up on enough websites, it will eventually get you page rank and give you a trust factor which no one can see.
If you are a member on a couple of popular webmaster forums then you might have noticed that, especially on BHW, there are people discussing how they can effectively build back links and improve their rankings. Following are a few strategies which can be used:
- Link wheels (!)
- Angela and Paul’s profile links
- Link farms
- Link exchange
- etc.
In this article I want to go deeper into optimizing the back linking strategy of link wheels. Like I mentioned earlier on the forums, members are giving away tips on and success/failure stories which can help you build solid back links and stay away from the ban hammer from Google.
Example Story
“I used X software to create Y amount of back links on a number of web 2.0 blogs around the web. After I pinged all the properties and Google indexed them I saw a significant increase in rankings on Z keyword. However a few days later my site’s rankings dropped to the bottom of the pit in the result pages. What did I do wrong?”
What can we learn from this? Google Caffeine kicked in which crawls the web much faster and creates more real-time indexes of result pages. Not only that, but they now also seem to understand better when the back links pop up for websites and if the article is spun (spinning articles = spam) or not. Therefore killing a lot of automated back linking softwares. Google will deindex the web 2.0 properties you created and the back links to your site dissapear again, leaving you with a lower ranking once again – be lucky if you don’t get punished.
Solution? Plan Ahead
The link wheel strategy still works! However there are a couple of things to consider when building link wheels with the new algorithms:
- Creation time of web 2.0 pages
- Spin the keywords you use as anchor text more often
- Do not use any spun articles
- Google loves fresh/original content (it also helps you not getting your web 2.0 properties being deleted)
- Are the properties/spokes connected with each other? and how?
- If the properties are blogs, do update them with fresh content with relevant keywords from time to time
- Do not, I repeat, do not interlink all properties together or face the wrath of Google
I haven’t really experimented with this yet, but is seems the most logical explanation to Google’s new updates. Sorry guys, but you have to get creative when using black hat tools. This sums it up pretty much, if you have any questions – let me know in the comments.
Cheers,
Mark

There’s been some complains floating around the Internet coming from disgruntled bloggers claiming that Kontera doesn’t pay them enough. While it’s true that Kontera is the ideal contextual advertising company for those who own high-traffic sites, small-time blog owners can also benefit from placing Kontera tags in their web properties. With the right optimization, making money online with Kontera can be easy breezy!
1. Placing the Kontera codes correctly
I can never stress enough the importance of inserting your Kontera codes in the right place. Scroll to the bottom of the designated page and paste the line of codes right before the tag.
2. Keep your Kontera ads out of the comments
This is a very helpful hint especially for bloggers who usually garner truck loads of comments daily. You don’t want your ads appearing at the end of a long comment because that will not give you optimized clicks.
3. Blue vs. Green
The default Kontera ad links are blue in color but you can test other colors too, namely green. Publishers have commented that the blue links yielded good results but you can always experiment with other colors for a set period of time while asking for feedback from your blog readers. However, we think it’s best that you pick a color that suits your website’s general color scheme.
4. Tell your readers about your Kontera ad links!
Yes, this is perfectly legal! There is no harm telling your readers what these little double-underlined links are. As long as you are not directly asking them to click on the ads, you will not be penalized by Kontera. This can even improve your CTR!
5. Maximize your earnings – Be a Kontera affiliate
There are certain criteria to be met before you will be considered an affiliate. Firstly you must be able run Kontera Content Link ads for at least three months and at the same time, generate a minimum amount of $100 as revenue per month. Once you refer your friends via the “Invite a Friend” program, you get to earn $25 per new user you bring in to the Kontera network!
6. Earning through Hubpages.com
Did you know that you can also earn added revenue from Kontera via Hubpages.com? Hubpages is a great Web 2.0 site that allows it users to post “hubs” – informative articles where the authors can post just about anything at all. Log in to your Hubpages account and key in your particulars so that you can make a little extra income from writing about things you like!

Successful Link Building Strategies
In this blog post I would like talk about about the methods on successful Link Building, on finding relevant – and potential LinkPartners. There are of course many ways to build links, for example Link Baiting and the use of Social Media, which you can read more about it here.
Link Building is one of the most effective way to promote your website. With some well placed links from high authority sites you could generate tons of visitors. Having other websites link to you does mean that they liked your content and thus fits in their ”theme”.
This way of thinking is also applied to Search Engine Spiders/Crawlers – and that’s why having alot of quality backlinks and thus scoring higher in PageRank algorithms means that you rank higher in Search Engines.
Effective Link Building Strategies:
1. Do-Follow Blog Comments
One of the best ways, and also the least time consuming, is commenting on Do-Follow blogs. To get started: Head over to either Backlinkmagic.com or courtneytuttle.com and type in the Keywords your blog concentrates on. You will get a list of blogs where commenting is Do-Follow, keep in mind that not every page is Do-Follow. Also do not try to make fast comments, like you are jumping from blog to blog trying to get as many backlinks as possible, because giving a more in-depth comment will get accepted by the Author rather than be seen as spam. Wouldn’t you like it if someone skips your content just to place a backlink to his own blog?
2. Do-Follow Forums
This is not a way to make backlinks fast to your site, because most forums won’t allow you to post links to site below a certain amount of posts. There is a list at Backlinkmagic which you can find here that shows all the high authority forums. SitePoint and DigitalPoint are some of those. Leaving a link here and there at most forums will not only generate traffic but also helps with the amount of backlinks. Giving you a higher PageRank.
3. Link Baiting
This is a topic that’s been around for a while but I don’t think a lot of people know what it is, or how to use it to their advantage. I think the name “Link Baiting” could be considered a black hat technique which is why most people wouldn’t consider it as a legitimate tactic.
However link baiting is merely link building with a twist: Rather than hunting out links, you are bringing the links to you through unique and popular site content.
So how does Link Baiting work?
Link Baiting is just like fishing. You publish a new page on a topic and set it free on the web. Hopefully others pick up on the content as fresh and interesting and link to it. The article is the bait, and the link is the catch.
A properly created page can capture huge links on its own with little to no effort from you.
Problem is… most topics are already covered.
