Google Adsense Ban
We all know that – the fear of getting banned from Google Adsense. For many websites Adsense is the only reliable source of income. You are basically dependant on them and ban of your account could lower your earnings drastically. I have already been banned from Adsense (twice actually). I am gonna explain in this post why I got banned and what I did to get unbanned.
While reviewing your account, we noticed that you are currently displaying Google ads in a manner that is not compliant with our policies. For instance, we found violations of AdSense policies on pages such as x.
As a result, we have disabled ad serving to the site.
Your AdSense account remains active. However, we strongly suggest that you take the time to review our program policies (https://www.google.com/adsense/policies ) to ensure that all of your remaining pages are in compliance.
Please note that we may disable your account if further violations are found in the future.
When you received that email it is already too late. I received it on the 9th September in 2007. My main website is a forum and if you are owning one then you know the problem – you can not control every post. One member had posted a copyright-protected guide for a computer game. Google Adsense did not like that and then just banned my website. Really bad, because at that point Adsense was my only source of income…
How do you get banned from adsense?
There are several ways that can get you banned from Adsense. When I started Adsense I was a little over-excited and started clicking on my own advertisements (I thought that would get me some nice revenue). I was uber-cool my first two weeks and noticed my account suspension around 2 months later. Bad for me, because at that point I was already earning decently without clicking ads myself.
- You get banned for clicking your own advertisements
- You get banned for placing your advertisements at not allowed locations. Making your ads look exactly like a forum entry for example will get you banned.
- If you place images directly next to the ads to attract the users attention then you risk suspension of your Adsense account. Some people got banned for doing so.
- Writing something like “visit our sponsors” next to your advertisements will result in a ban from Adsense. Google spiders your Adsense pages frequently – do not underestimate their intelligence.
- Letting other people know your CTR, eCPM, Clicks and exact earnings will result in a ban as well. Do not let anyone know exact numbers. The worst thing you can do is posting a screenshot in marketing forums.
If you did something from the above list then your account is in danger indeed. But wait, don’t panic – there is something we can do against if you violated their TOS once. As all people do, google likes honesty as well. With the new changed customer support where it is no longer possible to contact them you have a problem tough. You can not directly write them an email anymore… The only way to contact Adsense is via an online form. Be as honest as possible – they will evaluate and based on good reasons which you gave – reactivate your account. It will take a while until they respond, until then I recommend you to moneytize your inventory with other advertisement programs for your blog. If you do not get unbanned, then you can already gain some experience in using the alternatives.
To avoid bans I recommend you to contact Adsense whenever you:
- notice suspiscous clicks
- click your ads accidentally (happened to me too)
- If you suddenly get an intense amount of clicks
- If you are in doubt about anything you did
I really hope that Adsense will make it easier again in the future to contact them. Right now this support-center is just bad. There are publishers that really need the help… Automated answers are not always helpful.

At some times it is really difficult to comply with adsense rules.
I had received a warning for one of my sites just because it had a page talking about possible adsense revenues and click through rates.

I got a site banned from Adsense and was due to mis-placing ads. I didnt know what I was doing at the time and got bad advice from a forum as to the placement of ads.
Anyway, emailed Google lots of times after fixing the problem, appologising etc…. but got no-where. They just kept sending useless automated, generic emails.
The site got banned about 6 months ago, would it be possible to get unbanned by now? Or should I just give up asking.
You can still contact Google. Yes, I am sick of your problem as well. Other ad-programs give you account-managers – google only sends you automated emails… They do not even have a phone number where you can call. Have you already tried other advertisement programs?
I have tried a little with affiliate marketing with it, but not sold a thing.
I have also tried Bidvertiser (which I dont trust that its counting all the clicks) and tried Adbrite. But also not done well with these.

When you say that I should contact AdSense immediately if I accidentally click on one of my ads, do you mean just one click could get me banned? When I read the Google ToS, I assumed that that restriction was listed to prevent click farming, not punish accidental clicks.
Hanric, I’ve got a question. I used to put my adsense code in the templates I make. I forget to remove the code so those are running in demo sites. Will this be a reason for google to ban my adsense account? because my adsense code is running in multiple web sites without getting permission from google.
I just got banned from my google adsense..Too bad because i’m almost there..I am expecting to receive my first payout by next month and then suddenly, google emailed me that my account will be disabled. Until now, Im still struggling to reactivate the account..It’s so hard to please google…that’s why you need to really protect your adsense…
I was banned in adsense yesterday for invalid clicks- my site was attacked by a click bombed. I was not able to report that in Google, then right away I contact them. My questions is how long it will take for me to received response from them? Anyone here tried it and restored their account?
