I tried Chitika for a while on one of my sites. The ads seemed relevant enough, but unfortunately the click prices were quite low. Perhaps the pricing is better for certain niches.

I have tried this chitika keyword tester and it looks promising. I will have to try it out to see how the click prices are.

Loved the tutorial. I learn a lot better from videos than from text. It’s good to see the difference between adsense and advertising tools. I agree with you that adsense really doesn’t look as good in that example.
